Welcome to the GDRP Blog

March 14, 2009

GDRP is investigating views of race in middle and high schools and we need YOUR help with this important research!

Girl Driven Research Project (GDRP) is a youth-led, all-girls community research project which is part of the Girl World program at Alternatives, Inc., a youth and family agency on the North Side of Chicago.

This year the young women of GDRP have chosen to examine the ways in which both students and school staff view and experience race and racial profiling in schools.

This blog is meant to be both a forum for community discussion and a reserach tool.  Please aid our research by contributing your thoughts, opinions and experiences to our blog.  Here’s how:

  1. Read the Safe Space Rules: Because we want to maintain a safe and respectful dialogue, we have some ground-rules surrounding posts.   We have also included our Informed Consent Statement so that you can be aware of our research process and our plans for the results. Please read these before you proceed!
  2. Add to the Dialogue: Check out our discussion questions on the right-hand navigation pane.  Add a comment to any of the questions in order to contribute to the discussion.
  3. Explore This Blog: Navigate the pages of our blog to learn more about this research project, who we are, the Girl World program, Alternatives, Inc., and the links to other great projects and organizations.
